Actor-model Rhea Chakraborty has recently shared her perspectives on marriage and her experiences during a turbulent period following the death of her former boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput. In a candid interview, Chakraborty discussed her current views on relationships and her time in jail, shedding light on her personal journey.

Chakraborty, who has been linked romantically with entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath, addressed questions about marriage and readiness to tie the knot. She expressed skepticism about societal pressures surrounding marriage, questioning the necessity of rushing into it. “First of all, there is no right age for marriage. Secondly, I’m reaching this place, ‘Karni hi kyun hai (Why do you want)?’ Why do you want to get married?… Why should this be a pressure on you only? Men don’t feel this pressure,” she said.

Chakraborty noted that many of her friends who married or had children in their 40s seemed to be thriving. She believes that those who waited until later in life are “winning” in terms of personal fulfillment. “When I weigh the two, that side’s winning (who got married in their late 30s and 40s). In my Excel sheet of pros and cons, the 40 category is winning,” she remarked. At 32, Chakraborty feels focused on her career and is not yet ready for marriage, emphasizing her desire to prioritize her professional goals.

In addition to her reflections on marriage, Chakraborty opened up about her experience of intense media scrutiny and personal trauma following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. After his passing in June 2020, Chakraborty faced severe public and media backlash. She described the experience as overwhelming and traumatic, revealing, “Don’t bend, don’t cry, don’t break. You have to take a bullet, you have to take it in the a**. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and saying, you’re scared, right? It almost felt like the mirror said yes.”

Chakraborty’s ordeal included arrest and imprisonment in connection with a drug-related case linked to Rajput’s death. Reflecting on her time in jail, she spoke of the harsh conditions and the challenge of surviving each day. “Jail is actually a very different world because there’s no society in jail. It’s all about survival, you know? Every single day was about surviving. And each day felt like a year,” she said.

Despite the hardships, Chakraborty found strength in her quest for truth and resilience. She acknowledged that her time in jail had a profound impact on her, noting, “When I walked out of prison, I knew I would never be the same person again.” She also admitted to ongoing struggles with trust and forgiveness, revealing, “I have not forgiven everybody. Some people are on my head now.”

Chakraborty’s reflections offer a glimpse into her personal battles and evolving perspectives on life, marriage, and resilience.
