Rubber was found in a meal served at the Route 93 Chinese food stall inside the food court of Savitribai Phule Pune University. The incident occurred yesterday evening when students from the Hindi Department visited the food court for dinner. They ordered fried rice and noodles from the Route 93 stall and discovered rubber pieces in the food, narrowly avoiding a major mishap.
This is not the first such incident at the stall; similar complaints have been reported earlier as well. Despite repeated issues, the university administration and the faculty members of the canteen committee have failed to take any concrete action. Following the incident, the affected students reached out to student organisation representatives.
The food court has been repeatedly criticized for poor hygiene standards, which are believed to be the root cause of such occurrences.
Finding rubber in food at a prestigious higher education institution like Savitribai Phule Pune University is not just an isolated incident—it highlights the alarming negligence and inaction within the system.
