Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, passed away on December 26 at the age of 92, leaving behind an indelible legacy as an economist and reformer. His last rites were performed with state honors at Nigambodh Ghat, Delhi, at 11:45 am on Saturday, December 28.

Leaders across political parties joined citizens in mourning the loss of a statesman who reshaped India’s economy. Amul, known for its creative tributes, also shared a heartfelt homage on Instagram with the tagline, “Sabke Mann Ko Jeeta” (He won everyone’s hearts), accompanied by a note stating, “Tribute to the former Prime Minister and economist.”

His tenure as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 saw robust economic growth, with GDP growing at an average of 6.9% annually. Singh’s policies fostered infrastructure development, boosted investor confidence, and positioned Indian companies as global players.

Last Journey

Dr. Singh’s mortal remains were carried to Nigambodh Ghat in a flower-decked vehicle draped in the Tricolour. Security personnel and party workers walked alongside as leaders across party lines laid wreaths in tribute.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had earlier confirmed that Singh suffered a sudden loss of consciousness at his home on the evening of December 26 before being rushed to the emergency department.
