Pune:  On Thursday, MahaMetro officials informed that the final safety inspections for the Ruby Hall Clinic-Ramwadi Metro stretch will not take place before January 2024 hinting at the possibility that the section will likely be operational before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is anticipated to inspect the Metro stretch during the first week of January 2024, according to a Maha Metro official. The stretch will be certified by the CMRS and made commuter-ready after that.

Earlier, the final safety inspections for the Maha Metro were scheduled for December 2023.

The Maha Metro official went on to say that they have sent technical information and supporting documents to the CMRS. The four stations along the stretch as well as the viaduct will then undergo actual inspections. Some sources said that the stretch would probably be opened before the general election announcement.

According to the MahaMetro official, the trial run of the rakes was conducted in the past month between the Ruby Hall Clinic and Ramwadi stations and it has satisfied all fundamental requirements.

However, frequent travellers from the Nagar Road neighbourhoods suggested that the CMRS team should also check the newly built stations’ last-mile connectivity and feeder services.
