Samarth Police station becomes first in Maharashtra to have its own control room; 150 CCTVs installed

Over 150 CCTV’s have been installed in the vicinity of Samarth Police station. It is the first police station to have its own Control room too. These cctv’s have been installed at main junctions such as hospitals, bus stands, Ganessh mandals, ATM’s, busy areas. 80 percent of the Police jurisdiction has been covered in this initiative.

On September 28, a control room fully equipped with 150 CCTV surveillance systems was inaugurated at the hands of Pune Police Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta, Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Ganesh Bidkar, Leader of the house, PMC, Joint commissioner Ravindra Shisave, Satish Govekar, Sunil Kamble, MLA Pune Cantonment Constituency, SPI Vishnu Tamhane, SPI Shilpa Chavan and PI Ulhas Kadam.

Amitabh Gupta in his speech said that installing CCTV surveillance systems will put a control on crime incidents as well as investigation shall become easy. PMC and Pune Police will definitely work together on making Pune city clean and safe. Installation of CCTV cameras at Samarth Police station is the best example for the joint initiative of Pune Police and PMC. Pune Police has sent a proposal for E vehicles to PMC, we are hoping that is approved soon.

PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar said that PMC extends its all support to the Pune Police to maintain law and order in the city. The funds to set up the entire system was raised by Pune Municipal Corporation, for which the initiative was taken by Ganesh Bidkar. MLA Sunil Kamble assured to provide funds of Rs 1 crore to set up similar surveillance in Pune Cantonment and also escalate the matter for development at the Police quarters.

Tamhane thanked the PMC for providing funds to set up the system and also appreciated the help extended by them in providing cycles for patrolling which is not only benefitting the environment but also helping in keeping the police force healthy.
