The annually held Sant Dnyaneshwar Palkhi will start to make its way towards the holy city of Pandharpur from Alandi on June 29 (Ashtami). It will take a short halt of two days at Lonand (Satara) and later will draw to a stand again in Pune city on June 30. 

On July 16, the gathering will arrive in Pandharpur in preparation for the main Ashadhi Ekadashi ceremony on July 17. Along the route, there will be four round arenas and three vertical arenas (ringan). The Palkhi ceremony will stay for two and a half days at Lonand in the Satara district, one day in Phaltan, and two days in each of the Pune district and Saswad. The palkhi will return to Alandi on July 30 after a 32-day journey.

Yogi Niranjanath, the in-charge of the Palkhi ceremony, highlighted that “Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli’s palkhi from Alandi will be commencing on June 29. It will leave around 4 p.m. from Deulwadi. The first stop will be at Alandi’s new darshan hall (mandap). The group will depart from Alandi early on June 30 to go to Pandharpur, where they will spend two days in Pune city (30 June – 1 July). The event will further travel to Saswad on (2-3 July), Jejuri on July 4, and Valhya on July 5th. From there, it will reach Lonand on July 6 for a two and a half day stay. Later, the palkhi will stop at Taradgaon on July 8, making the first standing ‘ringan’ of the Chandoba Limb ceremony.

  • Third circular Ringan – Thakurbuva’s tomb (samadhi)
  • Second Standing Ringan – Bajirao’s Well, Wakhri
  • Fourth circular Ringan – Bajirao’s Well, Wakhri
  • Third Standing Ringan – Near Isbawai Paduka, right before entering Pandharpur  

After staying at Phaltan (July 9), Barad (July 10), and Natepute (July 11), the ceremony will continue at Malshiras (July 12) with the first ‘gol ringan’ at Purandawade. The second ‘gol ringan’ of the morning will be held in Khudus Phata and after a folk music session (Bharud), the palkhi will leave for Velapur.
