Satara – Pune Highway : NHAI removes 4 dangerous iron angles in Khambataki tunnel, restores traffic

Satara, Aug 19 : Taking immediate notice of falling iron angles in the Khambataki tunnel on the Pune-Bangalore national highway for two consecutive days, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Saturday removed four hazardous iron fixtures within three hours, in a big relief for motorists.

According to highway authority, the iron angles were installed in the tunnel at the top for electrical fixtures a few years ago, however, some of these angles have corroded and collapsed on running vehicles for two consecutive days, but there was no loss of life except damage to few cars.

After getting information, the teams of Highway police and the Bhuinj police in Satara district rushed along with PS toll manager Sanket Gandhi and other employees to the spot, took the survey of all remaining iron angles in tunnel and removed four dangerous angles immediately within three hours and restored the traffic, which came to a standstill for three hours, smoothly.
