The Maharashtra government has approved to carry out of world-class water tourism projects at Munawale (Taluka Jawali) on Shivsagar Reservoir on Koyna Dam. Rs 45 crore 38 lakh have been sanctioned for this. This decision will boost tourism growth in the Satara district.

The construction work of the water tourism projects will be done by the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation. The activities related to water tourism, as well as the entire operation of the projects, will be implemented through the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).

The government has made it clear that the implementation of the project should be done as per the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation. The government has approved the project to develop world-class water tourism at Munawale on Koyna Dam ‘Shivasagar Reservoir’ after checking the practical and financial aspects.

Meanwhile, the government has approved the disbursement of Rs 13 crore 61 lakh from the budget provision of the year 2023-24 for the first phase of expenditure. A certified report of the quality inspection of the work by the quality control system, as well as a pictorial certificate of completion and utilization certificate regarding funds, should be submitted to the government without any delay. After that, the remaining funds will be disbursed.
