Pune, March 29, 2025: In response to recent security concerns and incidents, Savitribai Phule Pune University has introduced a ‘Special Security Helpline’ to enhance campus safety. The helpline, operational 24/7, will address security complaints and emergency situations within the university premises.
Incidents such as the discovery of narcotics in boys’ hostels, liquor bottles and cigarette packs in girls’ hostels, and a recent case of inappropriate behavior by an outsider have raised questions about campus security. These concerns led to student protests demanding stricter safety measures.
The university has now issued a circular announcing the dedicated security helpline number: 020-48553383. This helpline aims to provide immediate assistance in emergencies, report suspicious activities, and address security-related complaints. It is accessible to students, faculty, and staff for lodging grievances confidentially and ensuring swift action.
 Available 24/7, this helpline will serve as a direct point of contact for:
- Reporting any suspicious activities
- Seeking immediate assistance in case of emergencies
- Lodging complaints related to safety and security
- Getting support in case of harassment or distress situations
- Any other security-related issues
