Savitribai Phule Pune University Opens PhD Applications for NET-Qualified Candidates
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced the opening of online applications for its PhD program, specifically targeting candidates who have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) and participated in the university’s PhD Entrance Test (PET).
According to a circular issued on October 25, applicants who took the NET between August 21 and September 5, as well as the PET on August 31, are eligible to apply. Interested students can find the application form on the university’s official website, [www.unipune.ac.in](http://www.unipune.ac.in). The deadline for submitting applications is November 5.
Candidates are advised to select the ‘Apply for PET exemption’ option during the application process. A photocopy of the NET qualification certificate will be required to complete the application.
The NET, administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grants Commission, is conducted biannually, typically in June and December. This year, the June examination was initially scheduled for June 18, but it was canceled due to concerns over the integrity of the test, as reported by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. The exam was successfully reconducted from August 21, allowing over 9 lakh students to participate.
