School bus carrying 11 people hit by truck on Khadi Machine Road; 4 students & driver sustain minor injuries

A heavy truck carrying a lot of heavy materials, rammed into a school bus of Sanskriti School of Undri branch at Khadi Machine Chowk on 10th August.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Shilpa Desai, Principal, Sanskriti School, Undri branch said “A total of 11 people, 9 students, our kaka (driver) & tai (female attendant), were coming to the school in the school bus just like every day. A speeding truck hit our school bus fiercely at Khadi Machine chowk in which 4 students & our kaka has suffered minor injuries. The 4 students have been provided first aid assistance & kaka has been shifted to a nearby hospital. The rest are fine.”

As per information, all the pre-primary students have been safely brought to school where school counsellors and the medical team has examined the students. Everything is under control now. The school had informed all the parents to take their kids back to home. Some parents have taken their wards back home while others are attending the classes.

The school plans to file a case in the incident against the driver. 

“In an unfortunate accident today morning a speeding truck hit multiple vehicles on the Katraj Kondhwa road at Khadi Machine chowk. Eight to ten vehicles were damaged in the accident as the truck driver lost control over the vehicle. In the accident a biker identified as Prashant Choure, a resident of Dhankawadi died on the spot. The deceased was sent to Sassoon hospital while the other injured were taken to Bharti Hospital for further treatment. The incident also saw a school bus ferrying children to Sanskriti high school Undri which was hit by the truck. There were 11 people in the bus, wherein 9 children, driver and female attendant were travelling. Four children have suffered minor injuries while the drive was sent to hospital for further medical assistance. The female attendant escaped unscathed. Further investigation in the accident is undergoing,” informed Santosh Sonawane, Senior Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police Station.
