Pune: Sandy Khanda shared  his remarkable achievement of being awarded the prestigious Vedana Award 2023 by SarkariSchool.in & WeCitizens Foundation  in the Medical Outreach Category for the groundbreaking Initiative “Periods Of Pride” by the Green Pencil Foundation .

The award acknowledges his dedicated efforts in impacting lives on a grassroots level through various initiatives across different geographical regions of India and the South Asian region.

Receiving this esteemed recognition fills him with immense gratitude and serves as a powerful source of motivation to accelerate our work and amplify our impact even further. His mission has been to break the taboos surrounding menstruation and enhance Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in a country where cultural norms and societal perceptions have historically hindered progress in this domain.

Hailing from a state dominated by patriarchal norms, where the issues of female child abortion and women’s rights have persisted, the challenges were daunting, but the importance of addressing these matters was undeniable. Taking up the cause of MHM as a man demanded courage, determination, and unyielding dedication to dismantling societal stigmas.

Through the Green Pencil Foundation’s initiatives, he have worked tirelessly to promote awareness, provide access to menstrual hygiene products, and implement sustainable solutions in communities across India and South Asia.

The impact of our efforts is not solely measured in numbers but in the transformative changes we have catalyzed in the lives of countless individuals.
Breaking free from the shackles of menstrual taboos empowers women and girls to embrace their periods with pride and confidence. It fosters an environment where menstrual hygiene is no longer a source of shame or discrimination but a natural part of life.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of numerous individuals and organizations who have believed in our cause and joined hands with us on this transformative journey. He said that ” I am deeply grateful for their continuous support, which has strengthened our resolve to push boundaries and strive for progress.

As we move forward, our commitment to MHM remains steadfast. We aim to continue expanding our initiatives, reaching more communities, and challenging deeply ingrained beliefs that perpetuate gender inequality. Together, we envision a future where menstrual hygiene is embraced, celebrated, and integrated into society’s fabric without prejudice or discrimination.

In conclusion, He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Vedana Award 2023 committee for recognizing our efforts and believing in the importance of menstrual hygiene management. This recognition has further fueled our passion to bring about positive change and promote a society that cherishes and empowers menstruation for all.
