All Women Mountaineers team leaves for Mount Sudarshan Expedition 2023 from Pune

Giripremi all women mountaineers’ team composed of Smita Kariwadekar (Leader), Purva Shinde, Seema Pai, Padmaja Dhanavi, Sneha Gude, and Sneha Talwatkar is heading for an ambitious Mt. Sudarshan in Garhwal Himalayas of Gangotri region. Akhil Katkar, mountaineer from Giripremi will assist the team during the expedition. 

The expedition is scheduled during Aug-Sept 2023. The expedition is chiefly supported by title sponsor P Cube Enterprises and equipment sponsor Namah Ropes. As a ritual of this auspicious ceremony, the team was handed India’s tricolour, and an Ice ax to be carried to the top of the mountain.

On 9 August 2023, the Giripremi All Women Mountaineers team’s P Cube Mt. Sudarshan Expedition 2023 was flagged off at the hands of Shri. Jayesh Rathore (Director, Akshara International School) and Jyoti Rathore (Chairperson, Akshara International School) at Bhandarkar Memorial Research Institute, Law College Road Pune.

During the ceremony, chief guest Rathore appreciated Giripremi’s work and efforts in promoting women mountaineers. While Rathore highlighted that Giripremi is a shining example for a new generation where mountaineers can dream, dare and do what they aspire. 

She further appreciated Giripremi’s 40-year-long march in mountain climbing. Giripremi is one of the few organizations that step forward when the nation needs help, in particular the times of crisis. The guests wished the team great luck for the expedition and expressed a desire to work with Giripremi for providing adventure education for school children.

Umesh Zirpe, the Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and Giriprem’s veteran mountaineer has mentored the team from the beginning. He firmly expressed his confidence in the team’s capabilities.

During the programme, along with the chief guests, Mrudula Mahajan, Vice Principal (Akshara International School), Giripremi Founder President Ushaprabha Page, President, Jayant Tulpule, Anand Palande, Everest Summiteers Bhushan Harshe, Ashish Mane, Prasad Joshi, Tekraj Adhikari & Dr. Sumit Mandale were present.  

The programme was anchored by Padmaja Dhanavi and the vote of thanks was shared by Ashish Mane. The programme concluded with the national Anthem.
