Pune: The Defense Department has recently agreed to the construction of an 18-metre-wide road from Hotel Crystal Hut to Triose Society along the Nashik Phata BRT route from Kasarwadi to Pimple Saudagar. As per the information, the decision was taken in a meeting that was recently held between the municipal officials and the officials of the defence department.

Nana Kate, Ex Corporator, Pimple Saudagar said, “Earlier, the entire stretch was only 5 metres. It was only a walking path where people were not able to drive their vehicles. Also, the military was not letting any kind of development work happen here. Now, with the PCMC, the military has also given permission to make this entire road, from Hotel Crystal Hut to Triose Society, an 18-metre road where everyone, including the nearby farmers too, will get good connectivity towards the city. Soon, the land acquisition procedure will begin following which, after the rainy season, the road work will commence.”

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sandeep Kate, Social Worker, Pimple Saudagar, said “The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation officials had a meeting with the officials of the defence department of the central government. There has been a positive response from the defence department. The officials have sent the proposal to the Municipal Commissioner and the long pending issue has been resolved. After completion of all legal procedures, the said land will be transferred to the Municipal Corporation. After that, tenders for the road will be issued and the road work will begin.”

As per information, people were facing problems due to the urbanization of the Kate Vasti and surrounding areas located at some distance from the defence boundary. An 18-metre-wide road connecting Govind Garden, Kate Vasti, and Triose Society in front of Swaraj Hotel at Pimple Saudagar was planned in the development plan of the Municipal Corporation. However, the nine-metre wide and 600-metre long section of this road was under the possession of the Ministry of Defense. So, this road was blocked for many years. Now, finally, the defence department has agreed to give space for the road.
