Seed preservation is a must; appeal nature enthusiasts

On the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, city based environment NGOs, Biospheres, Sanskrutik Vidya Mandir Shikshan Sanstha, Pune, Devrai, Sanstha, Sardar Haibatrao Shilimkar Pratishthan, Shrikrishna trading, Raireshwar Gramastha Satyaveer Mandal, Amhi Bhorkar Sanstha, Samajik Vanikaran (Social Forestry), Pune and Sahyadri International School, jointly held a programme where the unveiling of a grand drawing with the help of Seeds took place.

The programme was held at Vidya Vikas Mahavidyalaya Sahakar Nagar 1 in presence of deputy mayor of PMC Saraswati Shendge, local corporator Ashwini Kadam. At the programme, variety of seeds were paid respects. The magnamious picture of the seed was drawn with the help of many seeds which are on the verge of extinction. The drawing was etched on the ground measuring 21000 sq feet. This was probably the first such drawing made out of seeds. The aim of the programme was to inculcate the importance of preserving seeds of various native trees which are important in maintaining the ecological balance.

The event was brainchild of the event were Dr Sachin Punekar, while the seed drawing was done by Mangesh Nipanikar and others. The programme was attended by Parag Shilimkar, Raghunath Dhole, Vinayak Jambhorkar, Deepa More, Dattatray Gaikwad, Sunil Jangam, Milind Kulkarni, Amit Punekar, Mahendra Pakhare and Ganesh Mankar.
