‘Vaccine on wheels’ initiative by PMC aims at vaccinating people with limited mobility

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation is set to launch Covid Vaccination drive on wheels for senior citizens, people with disabilities and for those who are bedridden.

The Pune Municipal Corporation is planning to tie up with a private firm to start this “vaccine-on-wheels” drive from next week. The initiative shall remain limited to only PMC limits.

PMC has earmarked a few locations in the city where this drive will be held. Each of these unit shall administer 150 doses everyday. Over 15 such units shall be set up in the city. Each of these unit will have a doctor, nurses and paramedic staff. With this drive, PMC targets to vaccinate nearly one lakh beneficiaries with mobility issues. The details of the drive shall be shared soon.

Vikram Kumar, Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation said, “An MoU has been signed with the private organisation, which has past experience of conducting such drives in different cities. It will start vax-on-wheels in PMC jurisdiction from next week.” 

Kumar further informed that this drive shall be available mainly for the selected population of the city. We plan to reach out to organisations like old age homes, several Hospitals and some places where patients are admitted for medical care.
