Separate signals for pedestrians in Pune soon

The Pune Municipal Corporation has announced plans to install pedestrian signal systems at 40 intersections in the city where Adaptive/Advance traffic management system (ATMS) has not been proposed. 

The new system features updated technology and the pedestrian signal system is designed to enhance pedestrian safety and improve crosswalk navigation. 

A preliminary calculation sheet was prepared for this work through the Electricity Department of Pune Municipal Corporation. The work is scheduled to be given to Nucleonics Traffic Solutions Private Limited at a cost of Rs Rs. 31 lakh 93 thousand 438. The proposal of the same has been given to the standing committee by additional commissioner Kunal Khemnar. 

The system will not only make the intersections safer, but also more efficient, as the new technology will help to coordinate the flow of traffic and reduce congestion.

“Building a six-meter-tall traffic signal pole, providing copper and wiring, and installing a visual timer are all included in this project. For this effort, a tentative estimate of 39 lakh 90 000 was created.After approval of this project we will start work accordingly,” said  Abhay Dharmadhikari, Deputy Engineer Electricity Department PMC.
