Several residents of Shewalewadi have requested the Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to take strict action against a construction site, Joyville by Shapoorji Pallonji causing air and sound pollution.

As per further information shared by Rahul Shewale, General Secretary, BJP, Pune district construction is going on for the last two to three years on hundreds of acres of land in Shewalewadi. This site is under construction day and night. The construction activity is taking place throughout the day. Loud noise caused by the construction activity is disturbing the peace of the local residents, especially the students who are appearing for their final exams.

Today, when we met the Commissioner of Police Pune he responded positively and instructed the concerned police officers to take action.

The letter was submitted by Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Rahul Shewale, former Sarpanch of Shewalewadi village Mangal Kodre, Amruta Khedekar, Rajendra Bhintade, Balkrishna Shewale, Ajit Shewale, Alankar Khedekar and students with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.

The workers working on this site spend the whole night drinking alcohol and talking loudly. At night, vehicles carrying loads of goods move around blaring their horns. There is a lot of air and noise pollution in the area. Due to this, the citizens are suffering a lot.

Shewale added, “Air and noise pollution is adversely affecting the health of citizens. This matter is very serious. Even after telling the company, the trouble has not stopped. On the contrary, the company started harassing the local citizens. Also, there are frequent fights here and these laborers are harassing the locals by consuming alcohol and drugs in the open in the area. A youth of the village lost his life last month due to frequent quarrels.” The residents are now hoping for some stringent action against the builder.
