On Saturday 2 April, a grand procession was organised in Wakad on the occasion of Gudhi padva, to welcome the new year. Wakad residents from various societies were involved and enjoyed the parade in full enthusiasm. 
As per Indian Hindu culture Gudhipadva is a Hindu New Year, which was welcomed with a grand procession of Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita.

People were cheering with Lord Shri Ramchandra Ki Jai, Shivaji Maharaj Ki Jai, traditional musical instruments were played, the sky was adorned with breathtaking fireworks, saffron flags and crowds of people wearing saffron turban created the environment cheerful. The magnificent idol of Lord Shri Ram Chandra and the bullock cart behind it, the sparkles in the costumes of Lord Ramchandra, Laxman and Sita Mai were attracting the attention of all. The procession started from Pratham Society Police Line, Euro School road, Palash Society, Janoba Chowk, Datta Mandir Road, Utkarsh Chowk, Mhatoba Chowk, Chhatrapati Chowk and ended at Vitthal Rukhmini Temple at Kaspate Vasti. 
Hindu Nav Varsh Sangathana Committee organized the event.
