The first ‘automatic boom barrier’ installed on the BRTS route near Deccan College

In order to keep a tab on illegal vehicles passing using the BRT root for the first time ‘boom barrier’ which is automatic gate installed on the BRT route near Deccan College Chowk, Pune.

It is a pilot project and soon will be installed at various locations on the remaining seven points of the BRT lanes in the city.

This has been placed to avoid heavy movement of vehicle as well as speeding of vehicle using such routes. It has been placed to curb unnecessary intrusion of other vehicles on the BRTS route.

For this, the PMPML administration had planned to install four boom barriers. Accordingly, the first ‘Boom Barrier’ has recently been set up near Deccan College on the BRT route ‘Sangamwadi to Vishrantwadi’.

Another such boom barrier will be set up in other BRT Chowks. In Pimpri, near Sangvi phata to Kiwale BRT route, Jagtap Dairy Chowk and Kalewadi Fata will also be set up soon.

“Alongwith boom barrier camera is mounted on top of it. The camera will scan the PMPML’s bus number and the ‘boom barrier’ will open immediately. For this, we will take photos of the number plates of all the buses and buses plying on this route will be scanned by cameras.
