Two children drowned in a quarry located in Shivarkar Nagar area of Wagholi. Both the children were about 12 years old. The bodies of these children have been removed by the fire brigade of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) in Wagholi.

As per preliminary information,  four to five children had gone to swim in the quarry water, and two children have drowned. The deceased are identified as Ali Ahmed Shaikh (age 12 years), Kartik Dashrath Dukre (age 12 years). Both were residents of Wagholi.

Speaking of drowning incidents, another drowning incident took place on January 21 in the Mutha River when an 18-year-old student from Kharadi drowned in the Mutha River close to Panshet Crematorium after jumping into the water to save his sister and another girl.

Seeing that the girls had fallen in the water, the deceased jumped into the water to save them as they were drowning. A few nearby villagers from Panshet hurried to the scene and contributed to the rescue. They managed to save the two girls but the deceased went missing. Later on, his body was found a short distance from the location.
