On Monday (January 8), a CEO and founder of a Bengaluru-based startup was accused of killing her four-year-old son in a Candolim service apartment and using a taxi to return to Karnataka with the child’s body in a bag.
While cleaning the apartment that the accused had checked out on Monday morning, a housekeeping staff member discovered bloodstains. This led to the discovery of a shocking crime for which investigators have not yet determined a motive. The accused was taken into custody at the Aimangala police station in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, following an alert from the Goa Police. Late on Monday, a Calangute police team was en route to Karnataka in order to apprehend the accused and transport her to Goa under transit remand.
According to a police officer, on Saturday, when the accused checked into room 404 of a hotel in Candolim, he provided an address in Bengaluru. The accused was told that flying back would be more convenient and less expensive when she requested a taxi to return to Bengaluru, according to hotel staff who spoke with police about the matter. The hotel got a local taxi for her when she insisted on going by car.
According to a senior police officer, a police team was notified of the bloodstain at approximately 11 am.
They proceeded to the hotel and examined the CCTV footage, which allegedly depicted the accused departing the service apartment without her son.
According to the case’s investigating officer, he called the taxi driver and requested that he hand over the phone to the accused. When asked about her son, the defendant stated she had dropped him off at a friend’s house in Fatorda. When asked for the friend’s address, she provided information that turned out to be false.
After that, the policeman called the taxi driver once more. This time, the conversation was conducted in Konkani, and the driver was asked to go to a nearby police station without the passenger knowing. By then, the taxi had reached the Chitradurga district.
The driver drove the vehicle to the Aimangala police station without alerting the accused to the plan. When the car was examined and the child’s body was discovered in a bag, the officer’s suspicions were confirmed.
