On 14th March, a terrible accident took place in Punawale area when a bus, going to Pune side on the Mumbai-Pune highway, fiercely hit an oil tanker from behind. A car, which was passing nearby, also collided with the bus. No casualties have been reported, however, the bus driver has been seriously injured.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sunil Pinjan, Senior Police Inspector, Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police, said “The accident took place around 12 to 1 pm on 14th March in Punawale area, nearby Torna Mutton Khanawal. An oil tanker was broken down & wasn’t functioning, which was standing at the side of the highway. A bus suddenly came from behind and hit the tanker fiercely. The cause of the bus hitting the tanker is unknown as of now.

Sunil Pinjan further said “The bus driver’s legs were trapped & he wasn’t able to get out. We somehow managed to pull him out right in time & immediately sent him to a nearby hospital. A car was passing nearby the spot, which collided with the bus. The front part of the bus has been completely damaged. The tanker & the car have also suffered significant damages. The bus driver is seriously injured. There were some people in the car who have suffered very minor injuries.”

Sunil Pinjan continued “Immediately, we called for a crane to remove the tanker, bus & car from the spot & the traffic flow became safe & smooth again.”
