Viral video shows locals performing rituals instead of rushing victim to hospital.

In a shocking incident from Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, a woman bitten by a cobra was subjected to exorcism rituals instead of being taken to a hospital. A disturbing video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows the woman lying on the ground surrounded by villagers who believed rituals could save her life.

In the video, one man is even seen guiding the cobra with a stick and placing it near the victim, apparently under the belief that the snake would draw the venom back from her body.

The footage was shared online by social media user Shailendra Shukla, who claimed the incident took place in Sitamarhi. However, there is no confirmation yet on the woman’s condition, or whether she eventually received medical attention.

Health experts warn that snakebite is a medical emergency and superstition can prove fatal. Doctors emphasise that victims should be kept calm, avoid unnecessary movement, gently wash the bite area with soap and water, and be rushed immediately to the nearest hospital. Delay in treatment can drastically reduce chances of survival.

This incident once again highlights how superstition and lack of awareness continue to put lives at risk in rural India, where access to proper medical facilities is often overshadowed by blind faith.
