Pune Baramati DEMU shuttle had to be stopped on the Mainline as there were Goods Trains on both the platforms. In this, the driver of the freight train on platform number 1 & 2 had gone home after finishing his duty. As a result, passengers in the DEMU shuttle had to climb the cufflinks between the two coaches of the freight trains to reach the platform. Fortunately, neither of the two freight trains moved at that time, otherwise an accident could have happened.

As per further information shared by Pune Gramin Railway Pravasi Group, The elderly, women and children in DEMU shuttle suffered more. It revealed the mismanagement of the Pune Railway Division of the Central Railway. Being a Monday, DEMU was very crowded. There is a pedestrian flyover at Yavat station. But the passengers could not reach there because the goods train was standing on both sides. As the freight trains were long, many were forced to climb the cufflinks and risk their way to the platform. Some of the passengers came to the station by detouring the full freight train in the dark evening.

Passengers disembark from the DEMU and cross the cufflinks between the two freight coaches to the platform.

Farooq Bagwan, Chairperson, Pune Gramin Railway Pravasi Group (Daund-Pune), said “There is always rush on DEMU running between Daund-Baramati due to less numbers of trains running here. Many commuters, tourists, pilgrims, and students travel from Yavat to Pune railway station. Yavat station is recognized by religious aspect as the Bhuleshwar temple is situated here. Many pilgrims board & deboard trains at Yavat. This Incident has proven the mismanagement of the concerned department as well Railway Administration. 25 to 30 regular travelers have filed a written & online complaint against this incident at the Station Master office, Yavat.”
