Shraddha Kapoor Now More Followed on Instagram Than PM Modi
Stree 2 actor Shraddha Kapoor has 91.4 million Instagram followers. PM Modi has 91.3 million followers on the platform.
Shraddha Kapoor has now overtaken Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Instagram followers, a milestone achieved shortly after the success of her latest horror-comedy, Stree 2. The film, which hit theaters on August 15, has already grossed over ₹250 crore.
As of Wednesday, Shraddha boasts 91.4 million followers on Instagram, surpassing Modi’s 91.3 million. This makes her the most-followed Indian actress on the platform, ahead of Alia Bhatt (85.1 million), Katrina Kaif (80.4 million), and Deepika Padukone (79.8 million).
Currently, Shraddha ranks as the third most-followed Indian on Instagram, following Virat Kohli (271 million) and Priyanka Chopra (91.8 million). However, Modi continues to have a larger following on X (formerly Twitter), with 101.2 million followers compared to Shraddha’s 14.2 million.
Stree 2, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi, is set in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, and revolves around a headless monster named Sirkata who abducts girls in the village. The 2018 original told the story of how Shraddha’s character acquired the powers of Stree by intertwining a piece of the ghost’s braid with her own.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the sequel also stars Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee, with cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film is produced by Maddock Films, with Dinesh Vijan and Jio Studios backing the project.
Looking ahead, Shraddha is set to lead Vishal Furia’s upcoming film Naagin.
As of August 2024, the top five most-followed actresses on Instagram internationally are Selena Gomez (425 million), Kylie Jenner (398 million), Kim Kardashian (361 million), Ariana Grande (377 million), and Priyanka Chopra (91.8 million).
