Sinhagad fort : Ten people critically injured in honey bee attack in Pune

PUNE : Ten members of a family were attacked by a group of honey bees at Khamgaon in Haveli taluka, located on the western side of Sinhagad fort. The incident occurred on Thursday evening in Khamgaon Maval area of the Pune district. According to the district administration, all the members of the family sustained injuries in the attack. They were rushed to the private hospital located on the Kirkatwadi phata on the way to Sinhagad.

The family members who were attacked have been identified as Reshma Bhadarge, Malan Thopate, Suresh Chorge, Sanskar Bhadarge, Kadambri Bhadarge, Rahul Pawar, Narayan Bhadarge, Sayaji Bhadarge, Nanda Bhadarge, and Surekha Thopate. They had gone to visit the Bhawani Mata temple at Sambarewadi on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya when the incident took place.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of honey bees suddenly attacked the family members, causing panic and chaos in the area. The intensity of the attack was such that all the family members fell unconscious due to injuries sustained in the incident. Some of the locals who witnessed the incident informed the authorities about the incident, and the family members were immediately taken to a private hospital in a nearby area.

As soon as the news of the attack spread, Ayush Prasad, the chief executive officer of the Pune district council, informed the health department and the police administration to take immediate action. The hospital staff has confirmed that all the members of the family are stable and out of danger.

The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of tourists visiting the Sinhagad fort and the need for better security measures to be put in place.
