Smart signal system to ease traffic congestion at Pimpri Chowk

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar chowk (Pimpri chowk) is known  for its traffic congestion. 
To reduce the traffic congestion ‘Smart Signal system’ is installed using LED signals for proper directions. 

These vertical and horizontal lights on the signal poles can be easily identified by motorists even from a far off distance. If there are buses, trucks or heavy vehicles on the road, small vehicles behind these vehicles can’t see the regular signal. As the signal of LED light is huge, it can be easily seen by all vehicles. Therefore, drivers can decide when to stop their vehicle or move forward. 

“As the city is smart, its signal should be smart. We have started this initiative to avoid accidents, as many people don’t follow the traffic rules. This we are doing on trial basis, if this initiative is successful, then we shall implement it at other important junctions too, ” said Vishal Walunj, engineer PCMC.

“We started this initiative to reduce the traffic congestion occurring daily at this junction. These large LED lights are helping all motorists to see signals. This has a positive effect on the smooth flow of traffic,” said Nandkishore Bhosale Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Department
