SNBP All India Hockey Tournament to have 24 teams from 15 states

Pune: SNBP All India Hockey Tournament (Under-16 Boys) is shaping up to be one of the most awaited tournaments as this year’s edition is once again featuring 15 states, which is by far the same number of states that participated in the tournament last year.

As per information, 24 teams will participate from 15 states. A total of 480 players will play, 34 matches will be conducted & 25 officials will be there for the tournament. The tournament will be conducted from October 1 to October 7 at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge – Balewadi, Pune. It is the only Under-16 cash-based hockey tournament in the country and is a Hockey India-categorized event. Similarly, the Under-16 boys’ tournament has been split into eight pools. teams will compete in a league format for the top spot and qualify for the knockout stage.

As per further information, a total amount of Rs 3.8 Lakh has been budgeted for these two tournaments since last year. The winner of the boys’ event will get Rs 1 Lakh. The runner-up will get Rs 50,000, and the third-place finisher will get Rs 30,000.

Bhongor Hockey Academy vs Kolkata Warriors will be the first match played in Pool E.

Twenty-four teams from all over India will participate in the tournament. The teams will be split into eight pools of three teams each. The pool topper will qualify for the quarterfinals.

Each team will play two games in the league stage to determine the pool leader. The pool winners will advance to the knockout quarterfinals.
