41-year-old TCS employee was bitten by a snake hidden in his footwear; doctors declared him dead on arrival at hospital
A 41-year-old software engineer working with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) died after being bitten by a snake that had coiled itself inside his Crocs footwear. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon at his residence, shortly after he returned home from a nearby sugarcane juice shop.
The victim, identified as Prakash, had placed his Crocs outside his room before going in to rest. Unaware of the snake concealed in the footwear, he was bitten and later found unconscious. Family members rushed him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to relatives, Prakash had suffered a severe leg injury in a bus accident in 2016 and had undergone surgery. Since then, he had lost sensation in that part of his leg, which likely prevented him from realizing that he had been bitten.
A worker visiting the house first noticed the snake lying dead near the Crocs. When family members saw the reptile and checked on Prakash, they found him on the bed with foam at his mouth and his leg bleeding. They believe the snake had suffocated inside the footwear after biting him.
Doctors confirmed he had died from the snakebite by the time he was brought to the hospital.
