Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, speaking at the District Development Index report unveiling event in Mumbai, underscored the importance of addressing regional imbalances within districts to ensure uniform growth and development. 

In his X post, Fadnavis wrote:  In a district like Amravati where airplanes rarely land, the largest pilot training centre in South Asia is coming up!

Fadnavis mentioned the establishment of the largest pilot training centre in Amravati, emphasizing the positive impact such initiatives have on transforming districts. 

He shared plans for the backward district of Gadchiroli to become a steel hub, attracting significant investments and generating employment opportunities.

He highlighted the changing landscape in Palghar district, dismissed as backward, with developments like the bullet train and the Wadhwan Port.

Chief Economic Advisor of the Government of India, V Anantha Nageswaran, expressed concerns over growth disparities within districts and emphasized the crucial role that districts play in the nation’s development. 

He stressed the importance of good governance at the district level and the need for top-down approaches in district planning for effective development.
