Pune, Dt. 19: In preparation for the upcoming Special Short Revision Program of Voter Lists, a special voter registration campaign will be held on Saturday, 22nd, and Sunday, 23rd July in all housing societies falling under the jurisdiction of 214 Cantonment Vidhan Sabha constituencies.

The Election Commission of India has announced a special summary program of electoral rolls, scheduled on 1st January 2024. As part of this program, center-level officials will visit houses in the constituency between July 21st and August 21st for voter verification. During this drive, eligible voters who are not listed in the voter rolls will have the opportunity to register, while deceased and permanently migrated voters’ names will be removed from the list. Moreover, errors in the voter list or voter ID cards will be rectified.

For the voter registration process, the following documents are required:

  • Form No.6 should be filled by those who are 18 years or above on the eligibility date. Proof of residence can be provided through Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Indian Passport, or a xerox copy of the first page of a Nationalized Bank statement. Proof of age requires one of the following: Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Indian Passport, School Leaving Certificate, or PAN Card. A recent color passport-sized photograph with a white background is necessary, and registered tenancy agreement is required for tenants.

Regarding sample number 7 for the deletion of names from the voter list, a death certificate is required for deceased voters. For women who got married and permanently settled in other constituencies, proof of the same is needed.

In case of corrections in the Electoral Roll, Form No.8 requires Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Indian Passport, or a xerox copy of the first page of a Nationalized Bank statement along with documents mentioning the change. For a change of residence within the same Constituency, Form No.8A needs Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Indian Passport, or a xerox copy of the first page of a Nationalized Bank statement.

New voters can register online by using the voter service portal and voter helpline app provided by the government at https://voters.eci.gov.in. Siddharth Bhandare, the Deputy Collector and Voter Registration Officer of 214 Cantonment Vidhan Sabha Constituency, appeals to all citizens to participate in this special inspection program and encourages new voters to register without delay.
