In two separate incidents, thieves managed to rob people of their jewellery. In one incident, a man who claimed to be a police officer managed to trick an old lady who was out on a morning stroll and fled with her mangal sutra and her ring. The second incident happened near Dorabjee Mall in Undri in which the thief managed to rob a person of mobile phone during a morning walk.

As per information in the first incident, a mangalsutra and ring were taken from a woman by a thief at Shaniwarpeth’s Gadgil swimming pool who was disguised as a police officer. A 72-year-old resident of Shaniwar Peth’s Yashovardhan Building has filed a complaint at the Vishrambaug police station against an unidentified individual. The incident occurred at about 7:15 a.m. on Saturday.

The complainant, an older woman, had gone for a walk on Saturday morning, according to the police. A man riding a bike approached her and introduced himself as a police officer. He continued by saying that there had been a theft at their residence and gave her instructions to take the ring and the Mangalsutra off of her and hand them over to him. Despite the complainant’s objections, he took the ornaments by force and disappeared. The case has been assigned to PSI Manoj Barure and the investigation is in process.

The second incident happened on Saturday at around 6:30 am at the Dorabji Mall in Undri. In this instance, a 36-year-old Mohammadwadi resident has complained about the unidentified thief at Kondhwa Police Station. The cell phone was stolen from the complainant’s hand by a burglar riding a two-wheeler while he was enjoying a morning stroll and listening to music. Kondhwa police are investigating the issue.
