SPEED BREAKERS NEEDED AT RAHEJA VISTA JUNCTION

For the past many months, residents around Raheja Vista Phase one,. Premiere, Archana Glory, Ganga Kingston are demanding installation of speed breakers to control the speeding vehicles. There have been many near fatal accidents at this junction which poses great risk for motorists as well as pedestrians.

Pune Municipal Corporation must expedite work to install speed breakers near Raheja Vista junction.
The residents recently through the local Corporator Prabhag 26 Pramod Bhangire got CCTV installed to keep an eye on anti social elements creating ruckus in the area. This also put a control on speeding vehicles who had made this stretch as their hub for racing activities be it car or two wheelers. But speeding vehicles is still seen as a big risk.

A resident of Raheja Vista Premiere said, “This junction needs to be monitored strictly by installing speed breaker. There are a lot of bikers who use this stretch of the road for racing. Several minor as well as near fatal accidents have caused on this stretch. As residents we want that this road should remain problem free. Installing speed breakers, action against speeding vehicles is a must at this spot.”

Tara Singh, spokesperson, Anandvan Parisar Residents Forum said, “We have been raising this issue to various authorities, including corporators, Traffic Police department as well as PMC. We are hoping that some stern steps are taken to avoid accidents. In our letter submitted to the local Corporator we have demanded for speed breakers, installation of high mast lamps, P 1 and P 2 parking boards and stern action against speeding vehicles.”

When Pune Pulse raised this issue with Lekhaji Shinde from Kondhwa Traffic Police division, he said, “We have already conducted a survey alongwith PMC officials earlier and given approval from our end. Incase, if there is anything more the local residents need we are available for all the help. Also, if some vehicles are creating nuisance in the area, the residents can inform us and we shall take action against such motorists.”
Pune Pulse spoke to the local Corporator, Prabhag 26, Nanda Lonkar, she said, “I have already sent letters to the PMC, Traffic department a week ago. The work should start for speed breakers soon. “
