Sports Bike Thieves Nabbed in Pune: Kondhwa Police Recover ₹4.41 Lakh Worth Stolen Goods
Pune, December 20, 2024 – Pune police have apprehended a serial offender involved in house burglaries and sports bike thefts across the city. The accused, Mahesh Kashinath Chavan (19), and his accomplice, Sameer alias Alfaz Hanifbhai Sheikh (18), were linked to multiple criminal activities, including six house break-ins and four motorcycle thefts.
The investigation was launched after four flats in Pratibha Housing Society, Kondhwa, were burgled. Acting on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde and Assistant Commissioner Dhanyakumar Godse, a specialized team led by Senior Inspector Kondhwa Police Station Vinay Patankar began tracking the suspects.
Sameer Sheikh was arrested on November 14, 2024, and a stolen Honda Dio motorcycle worth ₹10,000 was recovered, linking him to a case registered at Hadapsar Police Station under IPC Section 303(2). Further intelligence led to the arrest of Chavan, who confessed to multiple thefts, including six house burglaries in Kondhwa.

The duo has been linked to several cases across Pune, including:
- 1. Pimpri Police Station – IPC Section 303(2).
- 2. Hadapsar Police Station – IPC Section 303(2).
- 3. Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station – IPC Section 303(2).
- 4. Kondhwa Police Station – Multiple burglary and theft cases.

The operation, conducted under the guidance of senior officials, involved meticulous work by Assistant Inspector Lekhaji Shinde, Sub-Inspector Balaji Digole, and a team of officers, including Amol Hirve, Abhijeet Jadhav, and others.
With stolen goods worth ₹4.41 lakh recovered, further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional crimes linked to the suspects.
