The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has hiked the rate of remuneration of the ‘Earn and Learn Scheme’ (Kamwa va Shika Yojana).

As per further information from the SPPU circular accessed by Pune Pulse, the pay scale for students under Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Kamwa va Shika Yojana has been increased from Rs 45 per hour to Rs 55 per hour with effect from January 1, 2024.

The revised remuneration amount will continue to be deposited in the bank account of the students via cheques as before and all other rules of the scheme will remain as earlier.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rahul Sasane, a PhD student & student leader at SPPU, expressed his satisfaction by saying “We have been struggling for an increase in the remuneration of Kamwa va Shika Yojana (Learn and Earn Scheme) since last one year. This struggle has been successful.”

Sasane further continued “On 7/10/2023, the Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil had come to Sant Dnyaneshwar Auditorium for a program at Savitribai Phule Pune University. At that time, several students met the Minister and requested for pay hike. And in the subsequent period, we continuously struggled for a pay increase along with other students. Now, this struggle has been successful. The increase in remuneration will definitely benefit the students. This is a victory for student unity.”
