Former Member of Parliament (Shirur constituency) Shivaji Adhalrao Patil has written a letter to the Vikram Kumar, Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation asking him to install a sewage water treatment plant at Bhairoba Nala which can help in supplying water to the Anandvan Forest area on NIBM road.

The letter stated, “Anandvan is a reserved Forest area which is being looked after by a local citizens group under Anandvan Mitra Mandal. The area consisting of 40 acres has dense forest which is in continuous need of water to keep the trees alive. Bhairoba Nala water treatment plant which is situated closeby can be utilised to pump the water to this area. This treated water can be brought to the reserved forest area through pipeline and can help in saving the green cover spanning over an area of 100-150 acres. At present, the members of the mandal are using bore water to survive the plants.

If this treated water is utilised to water the plants then it can definitely save the boring water too. PMC should immediately take steps in establishing this plant and help us all in saving the available green cover with us.”

He further stated that if the sewage treatment plant water is supplied to the forest areas the citizens group has also vowed on planting more trees and moreover nurturing them too.

The meeting held with the Commissioner was attended by local Corporators Pramod Bhangire, Sangeeta Thosar, ex corporator Tanaji Lonkar, senior leaders of Shiv Sena Rajendra Babar and Vijay Deshmukh.
