Sunil Grover recently spoke about his previous rift with Kapil Sharma, humorously calling it “a publicity stunt” planned long before Netflix came to India. The duo, after seven years, has joined forces again for The Great Indian Kapil Show. Prior to the show’s debut, Kapil and Sunil addressed their infamous quarrel in a press conference.

Sunil lightheartedly recounted how they concocted the idea while on a flight upon hearing about Netflix’s arrival in India. He joked about receiving a call from Netflix India, leading to the pre-planned squabble.

Kapil explained that Sunil’s busy schedule with various projects delayed their reunion, emphasizing Sunil’s involvement in several series and endeavors. Sunil expressed his joy at returning to work with Kapil and the team, likening it to a homecoming.

Teasers for the show have hinted at Sunil reprising his beloved character, Gutthi. In the first episode, he will be seen bantering with Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.

Regarding their mid-air altercation:
Sunil Grover gained fame for his roles as Gutthi and Dr. Mashoor Gulati on The Kapil Sharma Show. However, he shocked fans by leaving the show following a fallout with Kapil. The rift came to a head in October 2017 during a flight back to Mumbai from Australia, where reports alleged Kapil’s involvement in the altercation while under the influence. Subsequently, Sunil parted ways with The Kapil Sharma Show.
