Surgical Nightmare: Needle Found in Teen’s Head Sparks Outrage in UP
In a shocking incident at a community health center in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, a doctor allegedly left a one-inch surgical needle inside the head of an 18-year-old girl named Sitara after stitching a deep cut. The injury occurred during a scuffle with neighbors.
The girl’s mother, Meena Begum, claims the doctor was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the procedure, leading to negligence. Following their complaints, Hapur’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Sunil Tyagi, formed a two-member team on Monday to investigate the incident.
Sitara was brought to the community health center by local police after being struck by a rod last week. She had a three-inch cut on her forehead that required multiple stitches. However, after the procedure, Sitara experienced severe pain when moving her head and neck.
Concerned about her condition, her family took her to a private hospital on Sunday. To their horror, when the stitches were removed, a surgical needle was discovered embedded in her head. Her wound was rebandaged, and she is now stable.
Dr. Tyagi refuted the family’s allegations about the doctor being inebriated, stating, No doctor in this district consumes alcohol. He assured that necessary actions would follow the investigation’s findings.
The family is seeking immediate action against the doctor to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. This incident has raised serious concerns about medical negligence in the area.
