Tata Power facilitates Tree Plantation Drive for Senior Maharashtra Government Officials : 400 Saplings Planted at Lonavala

Pune/Lonavala, 10 July, 2023:   Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power company continues its dedicated efforts to contribute to a greener and sustainable future, facilitating a tree plantation drive for senior officials from the Maharashtra Government at its Walwan Dam site. Over 400 saplings were planted at ‘Tata Amrutvan‘, during the drive led by Shri B Venugopal Reddy, Principal Secretary for Forest Department, Government of Maharashtra , Shri YLP Rao, PCCF & Head of Forest force in presence of  Mr. Prabhakar Kale , Chief – Hydros , Tata Power, A. G . Patil, CEO – WREL and other senior delegates.

Acknowledging its responsibility towards nature conservation, Tata Power commemorated the recently renamed Amrut Kaal as Kartavya Kaal, aligning with India’s focus on fulfilling its duties during the next 25 years of Independence.

For more than fifty years , Tata Power has implemented an extensive tree plantation program at Walvan with great pride. Alongside the Mahseer conservation project that originated in the 1970s, this initiative was launched to enhance the green cover and support the flourishing of local flora and wildlife. Its objectives encompassed soil erosion prevention, livelihood generation for nearby communities, and the collection and documentation of data for educational and intellectual purposes. Last year, with a heightened focus on afforestation, over one million saplings were planted throughout the Western Ghats region.
