A Bengaluru man, Nikith Shetty, has been fired from his job at Etios Digital Services after allegedly threatening to throw acid at a woman due to her clothing choices.

The incident came to light when Shahbaz Ansar, a journalist and the husband of the targeted woman, Khyati Shree—an influencer—shared a screenshot of the threat sent to her on Instagram.

Ansar took to social media, appealing directly to Karnataka’s Director General of Police, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, urging swift action. “This is serious. This person is threatening to throw acid on my wife’s face for her choice of clothes. Please take immediate action against this person to prevent any incident from happening,” Ansar tweeted, sparking public outcry.

Following the complaint, Etios Digital Services acted promptly, terminating Shetty’s employment. In a tweet, Ansar thanked the public and authorities, confirming the action: “The man who threatened my wife with an acid attack lost his job. The company acted promptly and fired him. Thanks to everyone who made this happen.”

In a formal statement, Etios Digital Services condemned Shetty’s behavior and announced that they had taken further steps to ensure accountability. “Nikith’s employment has been terminated for five years, and we have filed a case against him to ensure accountability for his actions,” the company stated.

The swift action taken by Etios Digital Services and the public response highlighted the seriousness of threats related to personal choices, sparking discussions on online safety and respect for individual freedoms.
