Ticket Examiner saves life of a two year old boy

Promptness in action shown by Ticket Examiner of the Pune Railway Division saved life of a two year old boy while on the journey.

Ticket Examiner Rajendra Katkar was travelling on Sunday in the Train No. 01040 Gondia Kolhapur Express on his regular duty. The train left Pune station as per its scheduled time and reached Lonand and during the routine checking, Katkar found the two year old boy unconscious while crossing Bogie number 7. He heard sound of people looking for help and a child crying. He immediately rushed to the compartment and offered help to rescue him.

Being in scout, Katkar new basics of first aid and CPR training and immediately applied it to the boy who was gasping for breath. It was after his relentless efforts that boy gained consciousness and was back to normal breathing.

Pune Divisional Railway Manager Renu Sharma lauded the promptness shown by Katkar.
