Maval and Mulshi Talukas Closed to Tourists Due to Heavy Rains: Ban in Effect Until July 29

Maval, 28th July 2024: In response to cloudburst-like rains over the past four days, the administration has temporarily closed popular tourist spots in Maval and Mulshi Talukas for safety reasons. Despite the ban, some tourists are still visiting these areas, putting themselves at risk and ignoring official instructions. The tourism ban will remain in effect until July 29 to ensure public safety.

The heavy rains have led to increased water flow and potential hazards at key attractions. Today, despite the closure, tourists were spotted at the Kund Mala embankment near Talegaon Dabhade in Maval, defying the imposed restrictions. The administration has warned that should any tourist get caught in dangerous conditions, they will hold the administration responsible for the incident.

To mitigate risks, all tourist spots in Pune district have been shut down for the next two days. Pune Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has called for public cooperation and urged citizens to avoid visiting these hazardous locations.

Lonavala Tourist Spots Also Closed:

Heavy rainfall has affected areas like Sahara Bridge, Bhushi Dam, and Lion’s Point in Lonavala. Due to the intense flow of waterfalls and associated risks, the Lonavala Police have established a checkpoint at the Lonavala Dam to prevent tourists and vehicles from accessing these spots. The administration has mandated the closure of all tourist sites in Maval and Mulshi talukas from July 25 to July 29 for security reasons.

Key Tourist Spots Affected:

Popular destinations including Lonavala, Tamhini Ghat, Pawana Dam, Mulshi Dam, and Khadakwasla have been closed due to the heavy rains and substantial water flow. The closure is a precautionary measure to ensure visitor safety. Authorities have advised against traveling to these areas until the conditions improve.
