Pune : Commuters traveling along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway should prepare for a temporary halt in traffic flow as a result of the ongoing Panvel-Karjat Double Track Suburban Rail Corridor project. The Mumbai Railway Development Corporation Ltd has scheduled essential work on the Pune Channel, specifically at KM 07.560 near Chikhle Bridge, on April 10, 2024. This will necessitate a traffic blockage from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on the mentioned date.

The Highway State Police has emphasized the need for smooth traffic management during the project to minimize inconvenience for drivers and ensure safety. Consequently, in accordance with sections 115 and 116(1)(c) of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, all types of traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s Pune-bound channel will be prohibited during the specified hours.

To mitigate disruption, alternate routes have been designated:

  • Light vehicles heading from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s Mumbai-bound channel (Mumbai to Pune) can detour via Kalamboli Circle and the Mumbai-Pune National Highway.
  • All vehicle types from the Mumbai to Pune channel will be redirected from Kalamboli Circle through Kalamboli D Point, Karanjade, Palaspe, and further onto the Mumbai-Pune National Highway.
  • Vehicles traveling on the Mumbai to Pune channel will be diverted onto the expressway’s Pune-bound channel.
  • Light vehicles on the Mumbai to Pune channel will utilize National Highway No. 48, the old Mumbai-Pune highway, and will rejoin the expressway’s Pune-bound channel after passing through Shingroba Ghat to Magic Point.

This traffic arrangement will remain in effect until the completion of the Mumbai Railway Development Corporation Ltd’s work. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
