Traffic Disruption In Hinjewadi Phase II Till April-End, Commuters Advised Caution
Ongoing underground cable repair work has reduced road space to a single lane, with heavy congestion expected during peak office hours in Pune’s IT hub.
Commuters travelling through Hinjewadi Phase II are likely to face major traffic congestion over the next several days due to repair work on a damaged underground power cable.
The affected stretch lies between Wipro Circle and MIDC Circle near Metro Station No. 3, opposite the Dohler Company area. Officials said the road has been dug up to fix a technical fault in a cable belonging to Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL), leaving only one lane open for vehicle movement.
Traffic police have warned that congestion is expected to intensify during peak office hours, especially between 8 am and 11 am in the morning and from 4 pm to 8 pm in the evening.
Authorities have urged office-goers, company transport operators, and daily commuters to plan travel in advance and avoid the affected route where possible. Alternative internal roads and staggered travel timings may help reduce delays.
Officials also appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed in the area and avoid wrong-side driving, sudden lane cutting, and roadside parking, which may worsen bottlenecks.
Hinjewadi remains one of Pune’s busiest employment corridors, with thousands of IT professionals using the route every day. Even minor lane closures in the area often lead to long queues during entry and exit hours.
The repair work is currently underway and is likely to continue till April 30, 2026. Until then, commuters passing through Hinjewadi Phase II have been advised to remain patient, keep extra travel time in hand, and use navigation updates before starting their journey.
