In a bid to alleviate persistent traffic jams and accidents on Pune-Solapur Road and Shivarkar Road, the Wanawadi traffic police have introduced new traffic regulations, effective Sunday, 5 pm.

The changes come as a response to chronic congestion and accidents in the area, largely due to the signal at Fatima nagar Chowk and the narrow road. To address this, vehicles are now prohibited from turning from Fatimanagar Chowk onto Shivarkar Road and from Shivarkar Road onto Hadapsar. Barricades have been set up at Fatimanagar Chowk to redirect traffic.

Under the new rules, light vehicles traveling from Shivarkar Road to Hadapsar must take a left turn at Fatimanagar Chowk and U-turn before Bhairobanala Chowk. Meanwhile, buses, goods, and heavy vehicles must detour at Bhairobanala Chowk’s petrol pump onto Solapur Road. Vehicles approaching from Swargate must turn right at Bhairobanala Chowk and proceed via Vanavadibazar police post.

For commuters from Fatimanagar, two-wheelers and four-wheelers should proceed straight, U-turning at AIPT Depot Gate No. 2 to access Shivarkar Road. Traffic Police Inspector Sunil Pandharkar explained that these changes aim to reduce congestion and accidents by closing Fatimanagar Chowk’s signals and restricting turns on Pune-Solapur Road.

The new routes are implemented on an experimental basis, and the Wanwadi Police Department urges citizens to cooperate with the changes to ensure smooth and safe travel. By restructuring traffic flow, authorities aim to enhance road safety and alleviate traffic woes in the area.

Citizens are requested to cooperate with the new traffic arrangements to ensure a safer and more efficient commute.
