Pune: Tragic Drowning At Pavana Dam Sparks Outcry Over Safety Negligence
Tragedy struck on Wednesday afternoon when two college students drowned in the Kasarsai dam near Hinjewadi.
Rescue teams from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and WanyaJeev Rakshak Maval recovered the bodies from the dam’s water. The Pimpri Chinchwad police identified the deceased students as Murali Krishna Bolla (21), residing in Koregaon Park, and Kunal Dubey (21) from Keshav Nagar in Mundhwa.
The police reported that the victims were students of a degree college in the city. Bolla and Dubey had gone to the Kasarsai dam for an outing with four friends. “The duo had entered the water to swim but drowned because they failed to gauge the depth of the water,” an officer explained. Rescue teams retrieved the students from the water and rushed them to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
