UAE Expands Visa-on-Arrival For Indian Nationals To Six More Countries
Indian passport holders residing in six additional countries—Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea—can now obtain a visa on arrival in the UAE, following an update to the policy effective February 13, 2025.
The expansion builds on a 2024 regulation that allowed visa-on-arrival access for Indian nationals holding valid:
- – A visit visa issued by the US
- – A Green Card issued by the US
- – A residence visa issued by the UK or EU
Visa-on-Arrival Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, Indian passport holders must:
- – Have a passport valid for at least six months
- – Hold a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from one of the approved countries
- – Pay the applicable visa fee
Visa Fees & Duration
- -14-day visa: AED 100 (approx. ₹2,400), extendable for another 14 days for AED 250 (approx. ₹5,900)
- – 60-day visa: AED 250 (approx. ₹5,900)
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, emphasized that the policy strengthens the UAE-India strategic partnership, making travel easier for Indian nationals while boosting tourism and business.
India remains a key tourism market for the UAE, with Dubai recording 2.46 million overnight stays from Indian travelers in 2023—a 25% rise from pre-pandemic levels.
Additionally, India has signed visa exemption agreements with multiple nations, including the UAE, for diplomatic and official passport holders, allowing visa-free stays of up to 90 days.
