A daring jewelry heist in Camp has landed an unemployed man and his sister-in-law behind bars. Shekhar Hemraj Wani, 32, and Shivani Dilip Salunkhe, 24, both natives of Solapur, allegedly stole jewelry worth Rs 95,000 from a store on October 31.
The duo’s modus operandi was to pose as customers, distract shopkeepers, and make off with small items like earrings and rings. However, their luck ran out when the store owner lodged a complaint with the Cantonment police on the same day.
The duo has a history of similar crimes, with 10 cases against them in various cities, including Pune, Thane, Mumbai, Satara, and Sindhudurg.
After analyzing CCTV footage, police tracked the duo to Mundhwa, where they were eventually apprehended. The stolen jewelry was recovered from them.
