UPSC CSE 2024 Topper: Shakti Dubey from Secures AIR 1, Set to Join IAS
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Monday declared the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024, with Shakti Dubey from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, securing All India Rank 1 (AIR 1). With this outstanding achievement, she tops one of the most prestigious and competitive exams in the country and is set to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
Shakti’s success in UPSC CSE 2024 is the result of seven years of rigorous preparation, disciplined planning, and unwavering determination. Her journey reflects a rare blend of scientific education and socio-political insight.
A graduate of Allahabad University with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Shakti later completed her M.Sc. from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Her interest in public service took shape during her postgraduation years, eventually leading her to choose Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject for the UPSC exam.
Her attempt at the CSE 2024 came after years of balancing study and teaching. Shakti briefly worked as a teacher after 2018, developing skills in communication and leadership that proved valuable in the UPSC interview stage.
The CSE 2024 process included the Prelims held on June 16, 2024, the Mains from September 20–29, and the Personality Test conducted between January 7 and April 17, 2025. Her performance stood out particularly in the interview round, where her depth of knowledge and clarity of purpose earned her the top spot.
Coming from Prayagraj, often referred to as the Literary Capital of Uttar Pradesh, Shakti attributes much of her academic discipline to the city’s strong educational culture.
With this remarkable feat, Shakti Dubey has become a role model for UPSC aspirants across India. Her story is not just of topping the exam, but of consistency, focus, and the pursuit of meaningful change through public service.
